About Us
Let's face it. Cults are effed up. They're manipulative, psychologically abusive, outrageous and often soul crushing. But so is life at times, right? So, okay, you were in a cult. But your story doesn't end there. At least not on this show.
The award-winning Was I In a Cult? is a comedic documentary-style podcast featuring far-out, first-hand stories of individuals who were manipulated into a cultic environment and escaped to tell the tale. Using humor, these in-depth stories told by survivors (not victims) put stereotypes to shame and humanize the cult experience in a way rarely explored.
Hosted by Liz Iacuzzi and Tyler Measom, the podcast invites you to cry AND laugh. After all, as it’s been said, comedy is just tragedy plus time.
Exposing a wide range of cults, these are not stories of doom and gloom but uplifting tales, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit — and may even leave you asking yourself wait... Was I In A Cult?

LIZ IACUZZI
Liz Iacuzzi is a writer/ performer/ personality who excels at exploring uncomfortable subject matter through comedy. Born and raised in Chicago, Liz’s training began through I.O. Chicago and Second City. When she decided to take her talents to LA, Liz initially launched her own private yoga studio with clients ranging from Britney Spears to Ron Artest—while shifting her focus from performing to writing. BUT before that happened (and the inspiration for this show) ... when she first moved to the city of lost angels, she was introduced to a class for creatives. The teacher, a woman, came highly recommended, and the room was filled with incredible and successful talent from actors and singers to writers and directors. SO, she signed up. What she would eventually discover was that this "human behavior expert" was actually a self-help cult leader. Liz has since made her way onto LA’s stand-up stages, and has come out the other side with a strong passion for writing multi-dimensional female characters, focusing on important, sometimes hard-to-swallow subject matters through comedy.
